Mayor Gautam Shah on Wednesday unveiled the sixth edition of the Heat Action Plan. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has a new plan this year considering the region is dealing with water crisis. The civic body introduced mobile vans to provide free water across the city.
Shah on Wednesday flagged off the first three vans. More vehicles will be added to the fleet eventually. The civic body will also send heat alerts and paint rooftops of houses in slum pockets.
“Apart from the regular things which are doing every summer, we are rolling out three mobile water vans,” said Shah. “This year we will have more than thousand water stands across the city. As of now there are three vans, but in coming days there will be three more. We will also paint rooftops of houses in slum pockets with lime coating which brings temperature down by 2 to 3 degree.”
