Ahmedabad: Noble mission for animals this summer

All you need is a golden heart to fulfil this mission.

With the mercury soaring, the Amdavadis have embarked on a noble mission to quench the thirst of animals and birds.

A group of 15 people are keeping water pots wherever they can to give some relief to the animals. And, they have been doing it for the last six years.

"Many are considering to put hanging pots for the birds. We are arranging to large pots for the animals," said Elesh Mistry, one of the members of the group.

"There are many NGOs who are giving free pots for birds. Every year, we collect these pots and put them in different places. This year, we have managed to arrange pots for animals all by ourselves," added Mistry.

The group is not asking for money but asking people to help the animals by giving water. "We have placed these pots at convenient places where locals can fill them easily. We are urging people to place more pots at accessible points to animals," said Zankhana Shah, another group member.

So far the group has placed pots in ten different pockets of the city, also from some places they received the fund.

"Some people are giving us donations. We are buying more pots with the money. There are people in city, who like to feed animals during the morning. We are requesting them to place water pot for animals," added Shah.
