17-year-old girl alleges rape by father

A complaint of rape was lodged on Wednesday by a 17-year-old girl, a Class XI student from Meghaninagar, against her father.

The Meghaninagar police said she alleged that her father used to rape her in the absence of her mother and issue threats that he would kill her mother if she told anyone about the assault. For the past six years, the father had been assaulting her when they were in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the cops said.

She stated in her complaint that six years back, she was living with her parents and three siblings in Rajasthan capital Jaipur. She has two brothers and one sister.

During that time, a dispute had driven a wedge between her parents, and her mother left the house.

One night she was sleeping alone in her room when her father (name withheld), 50, entered her room and forced himself on her; he did it again the next night, she said.

After a couple of months, her mother returned and her father stopped the assault, she said. In 2015, she and her family shifted to Meghaninagar in Ahmedabad, where he resumed the sexual abuse, she said. In January, she told her mother and a complaint was lodged.

Inspector AD Gohil said, “The accused was nabbed on Thursday and is being interrogated. We sent the girl for a medical test.”
