The DDA said that while few portions of building byelaws have been modified, several other amendments have been proposed.

"The Common Application Form for sanction and Common Occupancy-cum-Completion Request Form have been finalised in consultation with all stakeholders... Due to the introduction of concept such as Common Application Form, risk-based inspection and Common Occupancy-Cum Completion Form, the entire forms, as notified in the UBBL (Unified Building Bye Laws) 2016 dated March 22, 2016 have been modified," it said.

A new clause 'Latent Defects Liability' for holding the professionals and owners of high-risk buildings having BUA (Built-up area) of 20,000 sqm or more responsible for structural flaws and defects has been incorporated, the statement said.

Meanwhile the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest has inserted a new rule in its EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) notification 2006.

According to this rule - Environmental Clearance has been integrated into Building Sanctioning Process for building upto built up area of 1,50,000 sqm, subject to meeting various environmental condition specified in the notification, it added.
