Schneider Electric announces green field smart city project in Naya Raipur

Global specialist in energy management and automation Schneider Electric India on Monday announced its signing of an agreement with Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) for the development of the first green field integrated smart city of Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Global specialist in energy management and automation Schneider Electric India on Monday announced its signing of an agreement with Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) for the development of the first green field integrated smart city of Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The project will be executed by Schneider Electric along with consortium partner, IL&FS Technologies Limited. The contract was signed between Schneider Electric India, IL&FS Technologies Limited and Naya Raipur Development Authority in the presence of all three parties.

?This is a unique project, one whose organic growth we shall pursue aggressively. The project shall be spread across verticals and integrate these diversified segments and I look to our dynamic team to make this real in a short span of time,? said IAS Chief Executive Officer Naya Raipur Development Authority, Rajat Kumar.

Schneider Electric will be responsible for executing the entire gamut of integrated command and control center and its overall integration covering transportation, surveillance, citizen applications, end-to-end smart grid solutions, end-to-end water management system and integrated building management system.

This transformation shall be supported by connected products of more than 100,000 IO points, edge control, applications, advance analytics, and services. This state of art architecture by Schneider Electric is open, scalable and interoperable. IL&FS Technologies limited has offered the citizen-centric services component (E-Governance) and transportation as part of the smart city project.

NRDA is aiming for Naya Raipur to be the first integrated city and aims to develop four pillars of Smart city across, institutional (including Governance/Legal Framework), physical, social and economic infrastructure.

Thorough this it aims to deliver critical services like 24 x 7 supply of quality water, metering of water connections, complete automatic generation of utility bills by application system, enhanced city security and safety, citizen based mobile apps and city portals including increased situational awareness to achieve a high level of operational readiness and substantial increase in the efficiency of operators and management.

We shall leverage advancements in IoT, mobility, sensing, analytics, and cyber-security technologies to make Naya Raipur a true smart city,? said Managing Director and Vice President Schneider Electric Infrastructure, Prakash Chandraker.

It is also planned to set up a centralized Command and Control Center (CCC) which will be the central hub for city management. The CCC will help in managing the city operations and emergency response.

Citizen services will give digital platform to citizens to interact with Administration, knowledge management for NRDA Staff, improving overall efficiency of NRDA operations.

Smart cities are about a city?s subsystems working together as an integrated value chain under different conditions. Smart city solutions help to create a smart ecosystem in the city to improve the quality of life of citizens and attract more investments for economic activities.
