Haryana Woman and Child Development Department has formulated a new scheme 'Hamari Phulwari' with the aim to give a facelift to anganwadi centres.

Selected centres under the Anganwadi Adoption Programmes will be made more attractive, child-friendly and modern so that people feel proud in sending their children there for non-formal pre-school education, an official spokesman said.

The scheme aimed at seeking contributions in cash or kind from panchayats, municipal councils, individuals and civil organisations for the facelift work, he said.

Building robust physical and digital infrastructure of the centres and support capacity development programmes of anganwadi workers, helpers and supervisors in various fields such as early childhood education and care, nutrition and health education, are among the objective of the scheme, the spokesman said.

Those who wish to make contribution under this scheme, they would have to submit their application to the Women and Child Development Project Officer (WCDPO) concerned, he said.

An Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) would also be signed between the contributor and the WCDPO, the spokesperson said.

The contributions can be in the form of physical infrastructure, health, teaching and learning equipments, capacity building and training programme, he said.

The contributors may also help in implementation of Supplementary Nutrition Programme and strengthen Haryana Kanya Kosh.

Referring to the benefits of making such donations, he said in case the value of the item or the amount donated for the anganwadi centre was more than Rs one lakh, the name of the contributor would be displayed at the centre, he said.

Also the contribution would be acknowledged on the departmental portal and a recommendation certificate would be issued by the WCDPO, the spokesperson said.

The contributors would be especially invited to official functions at District level, he added.
