The Mumbai Regional Junior College Teachers Organisation (MRJCT) threatened to protest and call for a jail bharo andolan on January 12, 2017, if the state government doesn’t meet their demands, within the next month and a half.
Last year too the MRJCT protested by showing non-cooperation, and corrected only one answer paper of the HSC board examination. Their demands are: teachers who were appointed to work in schools since 2012-13 should be get their salary from the state government, the Shikshan Sevak teachers should be brought under the government scale (should be paid proper salary as per government norms and not like interns), the Science and Maths HSC board examination should be conducted according to the old paper pattern.
Anil Deshmukh, General Secretary, MRJCT, said, “The government has been making promises to fulfill these demands since last year, and that’s why we use to always call off our protest. But they haven’t announced their decisions yet. If our demands are not fulfilled this year then the organisation will carry out the andolan on January 12, 2017, and also intensify our protest across the state.”
