"The Centre of Excellence for Flowers is being set up with Dutch assistance... to encourage farmers to take up floriculture," he said at the concluding session of the Haryana International Trade Expo here.
The expo was jointly organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
The state government is taking "effective" steps to double the income of farmers in Haryana, Dhankar said.
"They are being motivated to take up horticulture and floriculture," he said.
The minister said the Haryana government had set a target to increase the area under cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers from the existing 12 lakh acres to 22 lakh acres.
"As many as 340 villages are being developed as horticultural villages at a cost of Rs 517 crore and centres of excellence are being opened in every district," he said.
"The farmers can more than double their income by supplying vegetables, fruits and flowers to markets in the National Capital Region," Dhankar said.
Apart from this, agriculture offers abundant possibilities associated with the industrial sector, which could be utilised by farmers to sell their products abroad, he suggested.
He urged the farmers and entrepreneurs to cooperate and help each other for better opportunities.
