Counselling for PG med seats rescheduled

Last Updated 09 April 2018, 19:10 IST

The Karnataka Examinations Authority on Monday announced on its website the revised calendar of events for centralised counselling for admissions to postgraduate degree and diploma courses in medical and dental sciences.

The revised dates come after the Supreme Court quashed a notification by the state which mandated a minimum 10-year study in Karnataka to be able to qualify for government seats. The court had also asked the state to issue a fresh notification for students seeking admission to PG NEET seats.

The KEA has already completed the document verification. The option entry process had to be reworked so as to include students who were not previously eligible because of the 10-year study rule. With the 1st round of counselling, the last date for reporting at the allotted medical or dental college (for Choice-1 candidates) is April 25. For the 2nd round of counselling, the submission of original documents should be completed on April 25 and 26.

The results of the 2nd round of counselling will be announced on April 30 and candidates will be given time for payment of fees between May 2 and May 5. Students must report to colleges before May 8. Online registration for fresh candidates in the mop-up round of counselling is on May 2 and 3. The schedule could be revised based on that for All India counselling, KEA says.
