A motorcyclist died and the pillion rider sustained grievous injuries when their two-wheeler was knocked down by a mini-truck in North Bengaluru's MS Palya on Wednesday afternoon.
Pawan, of Arakulgud, Hassan, and his friend Kumar (18) were riding towards Sambhram Institute of Technology when a rashly driven Tata 407 struck their motorcycle around 1 pm. Both the men fell off. Pawan who fell on the right side was then run over by the mini-truck. Kumar was rushed to hospital with grievous injuries and remains critical.
The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving and seized the mini-truck. The driver had abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot fearing public backlash.
