JOIN USProfessor Kodandaram, chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) that spearheaded an agitation for a separate Telangana, has launched a new political outfit in the state.
Kodandaram, who once fought for Telangana hand in hand with K Chandrasekhar Rao, has finally named his party as Telangana Jana Samithi Party on Monday.
The party flag will be launched on April 4and the party will be officially launched at a public meeting here on April 29.
Addressing a press conference here, Kodandaram said he was forced to launch a party as the present Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the state.
"KCR is probably the only chief minister in the state who never visits the secretariat. There is no dharma darshan for the common man to meet the chief minister, the chief minister himself reviews all the ministries even without the knowledge of the concerned minister," Kodandaram said.
The divide between the TJAC and the TRS widened immediately after the formation of the TRS government in the state.
The TJAC felt cheated as KCR did not fulfil his promise to make a Dalit the chief minister of the newborn state as promised.
The issue of Mallannasagar oustees, widespread unemployment, and non-fulfilment of free education from KG to PG have further fuelled the rivalry.
The TRS government has time and again refused permission to public meetings announced by the TJAC.
Kodandaram was put under house arrest several times to prevent him from attending meetings.
Recently, the TRS government crushed the commemoration of Million March call given by the TJAC by large-scale arrests.
However, the TRS has always seen Kodandaram as a puppet in the hands of the Congress.
The TRS said that the former professor turned against KCR for not giving him a Cabinet berth.
