Police harassing BJP workers: MP

Last Updated 30 March 2018, 16:47 IST

MP Pralhad Joshi charged that police officials are harassing BJP leaders, asking them to visit police stations daily and to sign, saying that their names are in the list of communal goondas.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, he alleged that police officials are doing so due to the influence of Congress leaders.

BJP office-bearers and RSS workers are being asked by the police to visit police station daily. They will not do so as they are not rowdies. If police have guts, let them arrest. BJP would launch a struggle if police continue harassing its workers, he said.

MLC Pradeep Shettar alleged that the police paraded only minor rowdy-sheeters, and did not touch major rowdies attached with the Congress.

On ground issue

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar noted that himself and MP Pralhad Joshi are targeted in the issue of Karnataka Gymkhana Association (KGA) ground at Deshpande Nagar, especially when elections come.

If there are any illegal acts regarding the sports and recreation club there, the government should have taken action, as Congress itself was in power for five years, he said.

BJP is prepared to face Assembly elections, and the party base at the both-level is also strengthened. BJP National President Amit Shah is visiting the State, and the party would be successful in reaching its goal of winning 150 seats, he noted.

More leaders from Congress Party may join the BJP, and the process to finalise the candidates is still on. There is no confusion related to BJP and KJP, he said.

Govt blamed

Out of Rs 8,165 crore farmers' loan waiver amount, the government has reimbursed only Rs 2,878 crore to co-operative societies. As Rs 5,287 crore is still pending, both farmers and co-operative societies are in trouble, and farmers are not getting fresh loans, Mr Shettar charged.

MLA Aravind Bellad, former MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi, BJP leaders Ma Nagaraj, Nagesh Kalburgi, and others were present.
