Pressure cookers seized

Keshwapur police seized more than 1,000 pressure cookers being transported in two goods vehicles, on Gadag Road here on Friday.

A total of 1,087 Prestige pressure cookers worth Rs 28.41 were being transported in two vehicles without any documents, and it is said that they were being sent from Hubballi to Koppal. The vehicles were stopped at the police check-post on Gadag Road, and cookers along with vehicles were seized.

Keshwapur police detained drivers Prakash Mantur and Channappagouda Patil. Police were interrogating them, to find out more details of about the consignment.

Liquor seized

During the checking in the background of forthcoming Assembly elections, excise and police personnel arrested two persons who were transporting 13 litres of liquor in a car unauthorisedly, on Kusugal Road here on Thursday night.

The arrested have been identified as Muttappa Somakkanavar and Rahimansab Gudagi of Kusugal. Car and liquor were also seized.

Bike lifters held

Old Hubballi police arrested four persons on charges of lifting bikes, and recovered nine bikes worth Rs 5.30 lakh.

The arrested have been identified as Goutham Kalal (22), Rohan Horta (23), Kishor Kalal (22) and Kiran Samshi (23), resident of Old Hubballi. Another accused Gururaj Doddamani of Hosur was absconding.

They were caught near Anand Nagar Cross in Old Hubballi on Friday.

Valuables stolen

Thieves made away with valuables worth Rs 3.78 lakh from a house at Pagadigalli here on Thursday.

The house belongs to Vinod Pukhraj Lukkad. Thieves entered the locked house by breaking the door-lock open, and made away with 145 gm gold ornaments and Rs 15,000 cash.

A case has been registered with Ghantikeri Police Station.
