Kempegowda statue unveiled near Hebbal flyover

Bengaluru's founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda's statue was unveiled at a park near the Hebbal flyover on Monday.

Ministers K J George and Krishna Byre Gowda unveiled the copper and bronze statue which stands on a stone wall. It weighs 2.75 tonnes and was sculpted by Srinivas from Devanahalli.

The statue is 4.87 metres tall and was built at a cost of Rs 49.58 lakh.The stone wall was constructed at a cost of Rs 53 lakh and is 11.50 metres in length, 9.10 metres in breadth and 8.53 metres in height. The artists took two years to build the whole structure. However, the landscape and the stone wall are still incomplete. It was inaugurated by the ministers in a hurry for the upcoming elections.

The location where the statue is unveiled has to be developed into a park which will be spread across 1.5 acres. BDA is also working on the Hebbal flyover's extension, said BDA engineer member B L Ravindra Babu.
