Last Updated 25 March 2018, 19:17 IST

Rama Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama, was celebrated with devotion and fervour in the city.

Special puja started early in the morning at Rama mandirs and Anjaneya temples as the idols of Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana were adorned with special decorations.

Hundreds of organisations opened roadside stalls and offered buttermilk and juice (panaka) to the public. Temples also distributed salad (kosambari), buttermilk, juice made of muskmelon and mangoes to devotees. Music sessions and cultural programmes were organised too.

At Nanjangudu Srikantheshwara Seva Sangha, devotees enacted the birth of Rama.

Devotees dressed up as Rama, Lakshmana and Hanumanta attracted huge crowds at Anjaneya temple near Anandrao Circle. Some played music and sang devotional songs.

At Khoday's Circle, people received juice and butter milk from members of an association dressed as Rama and Anjaneya. Devotees also stopped BMTC buses and distributed buttermilk to the passengers as well as the driver and conductor of the bus.
