'Congress will come to power for the second term'

District In-charge Minister M R Seetharam said that Congress will come to power in the state for the second consecutive term as it has delivered an able administration during the current tenure.

Speaking during an interactive programme at the Press Club here, he said that some people have been making false allegations against Congress.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the state government of being corrupt. Let him produce proof to prove this charge," he said and reiterated that the state government has functioned well and is not corrupt.

In the district, 94,000 people have availed the benefit of Anna Bhagya, which is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's dream project. Another ambitious project, Indira Canteen, will be launched in Madikeri. Indira canteen will be inaugurated in Virajpet and Somvarpet in the coming months as well, despite the election code of conduct, and the officials will initiate the canteens.

Seetharam said that he was satisfied with his creative work as the district in-charge minister during the last 22 months.

Rs 2,000 crore grant has been released during the last five years, out of which Rs 1,000 crore grant was released during the last 22 months.

Major road development works have been completed. The inauguration of General Timmaiah Museum has been delayed due to technical reasons.

If the request towards the new taluk was made during the reformation of 50 taluks, the same could have been sanctioned.

A total of 11,000 title deeds have been provided to the eligible people and 1,000 more are pending for distribution.
