Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of the Mangaluru police arrested a gang of six persons, including three women, on the charge of luring a man into a 'honey trap'.

They tempted the victim by offering him a body massage and robbed him at a rented house in Maryhill in Mangaluru.

According to City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, using massage as a pretext, the victim was invited into a rented house in Maryhill.

On reaching the house, three youth barged into the house and removed all his clothes. Later, they took his photographs and videographed him with the women there.

They threatened that if he failed to cough up  3 lakh,  the photos and video would be posted on social media including WhatsApp, Facebook and Youtube. So the victim paid Rs 3 lakh to the gang.

The arrested are Ravi Gowda (42) of Mudigere taluk, Prithesh (36) of Mission Compound, Jail Road in Mangaluru and Ramesh (35) of Padil Kodakkal in Mangaluru.

DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya said that the whereabouts and criminal history are being investigated.

Ravi Gowda was involved in robbery and theft cases registered at Kavoor police station in the past.

The police have seized Rs 1.50 lakh and mobile phones from the accused.
