MP Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed his displeasure over the dilly-dallying of Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyover projects and directed the NHAI officials to complete the works by the end of May.

He was chairing the District Development and Monitoring Committee Meeting (DISHA) at the Netravathi Hall in Zilla Panchayat on Saturday.

MCC Commissioner Muhammed Nazeer said that the stormwater channel at Pumpwell has been blocked during the road works at Pumpwell. If left unattended, it might pose a problem by creating artificial floods.

The MP told the NHAI officials to unblock the channel along with repairing the service roads at Thokkottu and Pumpwell junction as soon as possible as vehicle riders are facing a lot of convenience.

The MP also told the Taluk panchayat executive officials to follow up the construction work of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and complete the pending works soon. The procrastinating attitude of the officials has deprived the beneficiaries from availing the facility, he said.

ZP CEO Dr M R Ravi instructed the Taluk Panchayat Executive Officers to conduct spot visits at the sites. The EOs should be accompanied by the Panchayat Development Officers of the respective Panchayats to ensure that the housing schemes are effectively implemented and the works are completed before the deadline.

Despite this, the contractors have not initiated the work on the rest of the units.
