A delegation of 57 seers from the Veerashaiva faith met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday morning and submitted a memorandum requesting him to reject the expert committee report on granting minority religion status to Lingayats.
The seers warned Siddaramaiah of staging series of protests against the Congress government if it accepts the recommendations.
The delegation led by Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Swami of Kashi Peetha told Siddaramaiah that the government should declare Veerashaiva-Lingayat as minority religion if it wanted the welfare of Veerashaiva-Lingayat faiths.
