Govt suspends DCP Yogesh over attack

Last Updated 08 March 2018, 20:16 IST

The Home department on Thursday suspended DCP (CAR) Yogesh for dereliction of duty over the Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty stabbing case.

Though Lokayukta registrar H M Nanjundaswamy stated that the institution had written at least five letters to the city police commissioner to provide adequate security at the Lokayukta office, it was Yogesh who had to face the music.

Sources in the police department said the DCP was made a scapegoat to protect the government's image.

Meanwhile, sources in the Home department said that the DCP (CAR) was solely responsible for security of Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha, the MS Building, the KPSC and the Accountant General's office, and hence, the suspension.

Meanwhile, the suspect Tejraj Sharma was produced before the 8th ACMM court on Thursday morning by the Vidhana Soudha police.

The police sought his custody for five days till March 12 and the court granted the same.
