Revanna demands Hemavathy water for Hassan district

MLA H D Revanna has demanded that the state government must let water into the Hemavathy canal to alleviate the water scarcity in Hassan district.  

The MLA said that if the government does not let water from the Hemavathy dam to into the canal by March 5, the farmers of the district will launch an agitation and open the sluice gates themselves.

"We will intensify our protest even if we are fired upon or arrested. We are not afraid," Revanna said.    

Revanna said that currently there was an acute shortage of water and the government should let water into the canal at least for a week, failing which thousands of farmers will gherao the dam and open the gates.
