Nine dead in road accident in Telangana

Seven persons died on the spot when two cars collided head-on near Kanimetta of Kothakota block of Wanaparthy district in Telangana on Wednesday morning. Two others died while undergoing treatment in Mahbubnagar district hospital.  

According to Wanaparthy police, eleven persons were travelling in two cars at the time of the accident. The car that was going towards Kurnool from Hyderabad first hit a divider and landed on the other side of the road where it was hit by another car coming from the opposite direction. Deceased identified in the Kurnool bound car so far are: Mallesh (30) of Mastipuram, Atmakur mandal block, Raju (25) of Ajakol in Kothakota block, Anjaneyulu (25) of Mulamalla of Atmakur mandal and driver Veeraiah (25) one other injured person Mogulanna of Mastipur village has been shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. Police suspect that the driver of the car might have dozed off on wheels causing the accident.

In another incident, four members out of five members of a family died in the Hyderabad bound car. The family belonged to Badangpet here. A young woman, identified as Kalpana was not responding to commands, though her vitals were stable. She was suspected to be brain dead. The victims were identified as Suri Babu, his wife Sunita, daughter Prasuna and mother in law Rajeshwari.
