Last Updated 21 February 2018, 14:06 IST

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches in 17 locations across the country, including four shell companies in Mumbai while the CBI sealed Nirav Modi's farmhouse bungalow in connection with the Rs 11,344.40 crore scam.

Sources said the CBI sealed the 'Roapanya', the farmhouse bungalow it identified in Alibaug on Tuesday and worth Rs 32 crore even as it continued questioning of those arrested as well as others in the probe.

The farmhouse is spread across around 1.5 acres.

The ED on its part continued its raids for the seventh consecutive day across the country.

After identifying around 200 shell companies and benami assets suspected to be involved in the scam, the agency raided four locations of such firms in the Opera House, Peddar road, Goregaon (East) and Powai in Mumbai.

The ED has so far seized diamonds, gold jewellery and other precious stones worth Rs 5,726 crore in the case. An independent valuation of the seized assets is being carried out, officials said.

Sources said the ED is planning to attach about three dozen properties under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Investigators in the ED are also talking to senior officials of Punjab National Bank (PNB) to understand how Letters of Understanding (LoUs) are issued and other bank operations done.

The ED has also asked the PNB officials to provide them with its audit reports since 2011 from the RBI.
