CM Siddaramaiah reiterates Modi is 'unfit' to be PM

Last Updated 21 February 2018, 09:16 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday again dubbed Narendra Modi "an unfit prime minister" and accused him of hurling "baseless charges" against the state government.

This is the second time this month that Siddaramaiah called Modi 'unfit' to hold the country's top post.

"Once again, Modi has said that ours is a commission government. He says this with B S Yeddyurappa, who went to jail, sitting next to him. It was the previous BJP regime that was a 100% commission government," Siddaramaiah told reporters here, reacting to Modi's speech at a BJP rally in Mysuru on Monday. "Besides, has Modi furnished any documents to prove his claim that our government takes commission? Nothing. It's absolutely irresponsible of the prime minister to stoop so low," he said, adding that Modi failed to speak on burning issues such as farm loan waiver or the Mahadayi river water sharing dispute. Siddaramaiah said if he was prime minister, he would not have allowed billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi to flee the country after defrauding Rs 11,000 crore from Punjab National Bank.

"Is it possible for Nirav Modi to escape without the prime minister's support," he asked.
