Palike member fires pistol in air after garlanding Shivaji statue

Manjunath Kadam, the Congress-nominated member of the Hubballi- Dharwad Mahanagara Palike, fired two rounds into the air from a pistol, after garlanding a statue of the Maratha king Shivaji, on Monday. 

Kadam and others who garlanded the statue to mark the warrior king's   birthday (Jayanti) at the Shivaji Circle here, accepted a pistol handed over to him by an associate and fired two rounds into the air shouting "Shivaji Maharaj ki jai". A sword is also seen in the hands of another person standing next to Kadam.

This incident took place in Sharahara police limits. No complaint has been filed yet police said.
