MP C S Puttaraju on Saturday condemned Superstar Rajinikanth's remarks on the Supreme Court'd verdict on Cauvery river dispute.

The actor had stated on Friday that the Supreme Court's verdict reducing the quantum of water to Tamil Nadu from Cauvery river was very disappointing. He had even urged the state government to file a review petition.

The MP came down heavily on the actor and asked him stop speaking for Tamil Nadu and learn to respect Karnataka which was his motherland.

"He is indebted to the people of Tamil Nadua and hence he is speaking like this. Rajinikanth shouldn't forget that he was born and grown up in Karnataka," Puttaraju said.

The MP added: "The actor should also speak about interests of his motherland. Acting in Tamil films and venturing into politics in Tamil Nadu are matters of his personal choice, but he should have respect for his motherland Karnataka."

The MP said that he would discuss the Supreme Court verdict with legal experts and decide the future course of action.

"We are opposed to the constitution Cauvery management board. We will urge the state government to file an affidavit in this regard. A decision will be taken to take an all party delegation to the central goverment opposing the decision. We will seek the government withdraw cases registered against farmers who participated in protests over the Cauvery water," he added.

Cauvery Hitarakshana Samiti president G Madegowda expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery river water sharing dispute.

He thanked the team of advocates who presented arguments convincingly in favour of the state.
