Last Updated 13 February 2018, 18:59 IST

Devotees will be able to witness the head anointing ceremony of Lord Bahubali at Shravalabelagola in 360-degree virtual reality (VR). "VR Devotee App" developed by Kalpnik  Technologies, a start-up leveraging VR and AR technology, will livesstream the Mahotsava directly to you anywhere in the world. Mahamastakabhisheka will be available via VR Devotee app from February 17 to 25.

VR Devotee enables users to have a 360-degree view in virtual reality, giving the viewers an immersive experience, which is almost as good as being there. The Mahamastakabhisheka, celebrated once in 12 years, is one of the most sacred festivals in India attracting millions of devotees from across the world.

Ashwani Garg, CEO & Co-Founder of  Kalpnik  Technologies Pvt Ltd, said, "Devotees across the world face many problems in their engagement with their faith. Many people are unable to visit highly desired religious temples, meet their gurus or attend special occasions due to distance, cost, physical inability and time constraints."

At Kalpnik, we spent 18 months to develop a user-friendly APP and VR headset that delivers a highly immersive experience for the devotees. The experience is almost as good as physically being there. For NRIs and people outside India livestreaming of Mahamastakabhisheka is a great opportunity to engage deeper with their faith from anywhere in the world. Kalpnik has already produced VR experiences for several temples and spiritual leaders in India," Garg added.

VR Devotee app is available free for download on Google Playstore and Apple Store. You can buy a VR Devotee headset at a highly discounted rate from www.vrdevotee.com.
