Ram Rahim used castrated disciples to amass wealth

Last Updated 12 February 2018, 15:39 IST

The colossal wealth and properties amassed by the jailed chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, was through several shady land deals that he conducted through followers whom he got castrated.

The sect chief created land banks by purchasing properties in the name of his castrated followers, who would later gift  them back to the sect.

All  the transactions took place without the knowledge of his castrated disciples who trusted him no less than god.

The CBI, which is pursuing the case of castration of nearly 400 sect followers, has placed on record evidences before the CBI court to cement its charges of shady land deals executed at the behest of the sect chief.

Disciples were castrated on the directions of the Dera head. Documents for purchase of land were then prepared and got signed by the castrated followers.

The sect also got power of attorneys signed from the them.

Land banks were created after purchases were made in the name of castrated devotees through the documents they were made to sign.

Once the land was purchased in the name of the castrated owners, it was gifted back to the sect.

Castrated disciples were neither aware of transactions carried out in their name at the time of purchase of property, nor were they kept in the loop at the time documents were made to pass over the properties to the sect.

Castration was directed for multiple objectives.

Devotees were completely dependent on the sect after they were lured for castration in the name of "attaining God".

This way the sect chief gained complete control over his followers to execute his plans.

Castrated devotees  did not dare ask  questions while they were made to sign documents. The probing agency has placed on record over a dozen such shady transactions.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently serving a rigorous 20-year imprisonment after he was convicted by  the CBI for raping two of his disciples.

Besides the charges of castration, the sect chief is also facing trial in two murder cases, including the murder of a journalist.
