Rs 15 lakh worth of gold jewellery has been stolen from the house of a policewoman in Madiwala police quarters, South Bengaluru.

Padmavathi, an assistant sub-inspector at the  Sadduguntepalya police station, was at the workplace while her  aged mother Muthamma was sleeping when burglars struck their home on Thursday. When Padmavathi came home for lunch, she found the house ransacked. Rs 1 lakh in cash and gold jewellery weighing 650 grams were missing. Burglars opened an almirah with keys  kept  under it. Police suspect it's an inside job.

Padmavathi's mother told the police that two people had come to the house in the afternoon looking for her daughter. But she sent them back from the doorstep. A while later, she locked the house and went for a walk. She returned later and dozed off in a room.
