Biffes to screen 200 films

The city is all set for the 10th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (Biffes) from February 22 to March 1.

The film festival will screen 200 movies from 60 countries, besides seminars, workshops and master classes for film aspirants.

"The screenings will be held across 11 screens of the PVR Cinema at the city's Orion Mall and one screen of the Dr Raj Bhavan, Karnataka Film Artists Association, Chamrajpet," said N Vidyashankar, artistic director, Biffes.

The opening event will be on the grand steps of the Vidhana Soudha, presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. National and international delegates, filmmakers and film celebrities are also expected to be present.

The closing event will also be held at the Vidhana Soudha and the Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala will present the awards to the winners of the competitions under Asian, Indian and Kannada films sections.

The festival will also pay homage to Parvathamma Rajkumar, R N Sudarshan, Kashinath, K Chandrashekar, Krishna Kumari, B V Radha, and Shashi Kapoor.

Registration has already started at the offices of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, Vartha Bhavana, the Department of Information and Public Relations, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and Suchitra Film Society premises.
