Illyas murder: Mangaluru police nab two youth

Mangaluru police on Friday, have arrested two youth who are members of rowdy Dawood Dharmanagara gang in connection with the stabbing of rowdy Target Illyas.

The two arrested youth are Mohammed Sameer alias Robert (27), who lives beside the Salafi masjid, Ullala Abbaka circle and Nameer Hanju (34) who lives in Pavoor Gerukatte, Manjeshwara, Kasargod district, Kerala.  

In a daylight murder, Illyas (30), was murdered at his apartment at Kuntapady Jeppu in Mangaluru city on January 13.  He was formerly associated with Ullal Indian National Congress unit. He was repeatedly stabbed by unidentified assailants that lead to his death.

Mangaluru police commissioner T R Suresh said that Mangaluru south  (Pandeshwara) police led by inspector K U Belliappa and CCB team led by inspector Shantaram apprehended the duo.    

There are two cases in Ulalla police station against Sameer for assaulting Surma Imran of Target Illyas gang for destruction of property.  

Nameer Hanju is charged with the attempt to murder in Konaje police limits, dacoity in Suratkal and Mangaluru north police limits and kidnapping in Ulalla police limits.
