Dutch company proposes to upgrade city waste collection centres

SweepSmart, a Dutch company has proposed to partner with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to upgrade 10 existing dry waste collection centres in the city.

Representatives of the company met Bangalore Development and Town Planning Minister, K J George on Friday to discuss the proposal.

The company offered to upgrade the 10 dry waste collection centres at a cost of Rs 4.75 crores. The company and the Dutch government will contribute Rs 70 Lakh each for the project.

According to reports, the company also requested the Minister to allot Rs 1.95 crore for the project to cover the remaining costs.

The BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad and BDA Commissioner Rakesh Singh were present.

Mega job fair inaugurated

George, Mayor R Sampath Raj and other officials of the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation inaugurated the mega job fair at Shalini Grounds in Jayanagar 5th block on Friday.

Speaking at the event, George said,"Our Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has developed a Koushalya Abhivruddhi programme to provide training for skilled and efficient people in the state."

More than 162 companies participated in the event and 11,150 people took part in the event out of which 274 got placed immediately.
