Asst professor held to setting cars on fire

An assistant professor of Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) has been arrested for setting expensive cars on fire at Kalaburagi.

The suspect is Dr Amith Gaikwad. He works at BIMS and hails from a reputed family in Kalaburagi.

He had set 8 cars on fire on January 13 and one car on , January 14 in APMC Yard police area. Out of 9 cars, 5 cars are owned by doctors.

Complaints were lodged with M B Nagar and Station Bazar police following the incidents.

The police with the hlep of local residents caught Dr Gaikwad when he was attempting to set a car on fire at APMC Yard area.
