Woman and lover strangle husband

A man was strangled by his 32-year-old wife and her lover after he spotted them together at home in Hulimavu, South Bengaluru,  last Monday.

The duo stretched out the body on the bed in an effort to make the death appear natural, but a post-mortem examination revealed the man had died of strangulation.  Police later arrested the woman and her lover.

Deepali Shindhe, working at a garment factory, had an affair with her colleague Rajkumar Naik (25). She was married to Mahesh Shindhe, an auto-rickshaw driver, and the couple has two children.

On January 8, Mahesh returned home at 7 pm, when Deepali and her lover Rajkumar were inside. He grew suspicious as Deepali took time to open the door. He searched the rooms and found Rajkumar hiding under the cot.

Mahesh dragged Rajkumar out to assault him, but Rajkumar overpowered him. Deepali and Rajkumar then strangled Mahesh.

When their children returned home, Deepali told them their father was feeling unwell. Later in the night, she took Mahesh to the hospital with the help of neighbours, where he was declared brought dead.

She told police that her husband was an alcoholic and had returned home drunk that day. He slept on the bed and never woke up. Police registered a case of unnatural death and sent Mahesh's body for post-mortem.

But when police took Deepali and Rajkumar into custody after receiving the post-mortem report, they confessed to the crime.
