Man prowls on BMRCL women quarters

A debauchee has hit the city streets again, and this time the victims are Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited's (BMRCL) women employees.

The suspect, reportedly with a fetish for women lingerie, was spotted lurking with a knife at the BMRCL's ladies quarters  in Baiyappanahalli on January 11. The corporation's staff has filed a complaint with the Baiyappanahalli police who are on the lookout for the man.

According to the staff, Arpitha's complaint, when she woke up around 2.30 am, she saw a man sneaking outside her bedroom.

The man outside the 24-year-old loco-pilot's room was in his mid-twenties. He was wearing a cream coloured t-shirt and spoke Kannada, her complaint stated.

She alerted her colleagues who joined her. They shouted at the intruder, asking him who he was and what he was doing on the premises.

The suspect initially tried to escape the scene by posing as a watchman. Later, he said that he was a thief.

However, the women's ordeal did not end with it.

The man moved around and stole undergarments from balconies of the women. In a suggestive manner, he reportedly even asked the victims if it belonged to them.

On hearing the commotion, two security guards rushed to the spot and noticed that the accused had spat and littered near the rooms. He had also smoked a cigarette.

The Baiyappanahalli police are investigating."There are no CCTV cameras in the quarters and we are trying to analyse CCTV footages from around the area," a senior police officer said.

A similar incident had haunted the city in March last year when a fetishist struck the women's hostel of Maharani College. He would enter the college's hostel and steal women's undergarments left to dry on the terrace. The accused was arrested by the High Grounds police.
