JOIN USElaborate security arrangements have been made for the Paryaya celebrations to be held during the wee hours of January 18.
A press release issued by the Police Superintendent Lakshman Nimbargi stated that as many as 1 SP, 1 ASP, 6 DySPs, 13 PSIs, 40 SIs, 100 HC/PC/Home Guards would be deployed into service. Four KSRP, five DAR platoons and three bomb detection squads would be deployed. Two outposts, one each at Sri Krishna temple and Service bus Stop, would be set up. CCTV cameras have been installed at all crucial junctions. Six check posts are set up each at Amabalpadi, Bannanje, Amabagilu, MGM-Indrali, Kukkikatte and Balaipade. Crime detection expert units from outside district are posted for service all over the area.
Necessary parking arrangements have been made for the devotees and spectators at MGM Grounds, Board High School Grounds, PPC Grounds, Christian High School Grounds, UBMC Higher Primary School Grounds, Anantheshawar English Medium School Grounds, Adi Udupi Higher Primary School grounds, Olakadu School Grounds and Royal Garden.
The route for the traffic is also being changed following the Paryaya procession. The vehicles from Mangaluru and Amabalpadi areas can reach the Udupi city via Bannanje. Service and city buses towards Mangaluru and Kundapur would be taking the Bannanje route. The buses to and from Karkal would be dropping and boarding the passengers at Manipal.
The buses from Mangaluru to Mumbai should board the passengers at Karavali junction and should use the NH-66 without entering the city limits.
Traffic at Welcome Arch in Kinnimulki, Govinda Kalyana Mantap, Jodukatte, Court Road, Diana Circle, Mitra Circle, K M Marg and Tenka Pete is prohibited.
