Police arrest youth for threatening SFI leader on Facebook

The police have arrested a youth for allegedly harassing and threatening Madhuri Bolar,  a Student Federation of India (SFI) leader on social media, in Mangaluru on Saturday.  

Mangaluru South police who are investigating the case, arrested Srihari alias Harish Devadiga alias Kakanje Devadiga,  near Pumpwell.    

Srihari belongs to Kakanje, Belthangdi taluk, Dakshina Kannada district.  

Police have seized the mobile used to send the threat messages and produced him in court. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

Police added that there are other suspects who are yet to be arrested in connection with the case.  

According to the police, SFI district secretary Madhuri Bolar had filed a complaint on January 9, stating the accused had taken pictures of her and other SFI volunteers  campaigning.

He had then uploaded those pictures on Facebook with threatening messages.
