An advocate here has filed a complaint against DMK MP Kanimozhi at the Saidabad police station for her alleged comments on Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala at the World Atheist Conference organized by Dravidar Khazhagam in Tiruchirappalli of Tamilnadu.

The DMK MP reportedly said "What is Lord Venkateswara; he is only God for the rich, while the poor languish in long queues. How can he save his devotees if he cannot save his own Hundi? If Lord Venkateswara is a real God with power, why he needs security".

Karunasagar Kashimsetty an advocate and also president of Hindu Sanghathan located in Saidabad in his complaint to the police said that he read an article in a vernacular news paper, which quoted the MP saying, "Tirumala Venkanna Emee Devudu? (What God is Tirumala Venkanna) and was deeply hurt by her comments on the Lord. "Her comments have deeply hurt religious beliefs and devotion of crores of Hindus who believe him as God of Kaliyug," he said.

The advocate seeking action on the DMK MP, argued that crores of devotees from all over the world worship  Lord Venkateswara, Kanimozhi being an atheist has no right to question the religious beliefs of Hindus.

"I have asked the police to register a case against her under IPC 295-A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), " he said. Saidabad circle inspector, Sathiaah has said that he would seek legal opinion before taking further action.
