Around 350 will be chaseable: Pujara

India may still be behind the eight ball in the first Test, but Cheteshwar Pujara was confident that the tourists can still make a match of it. South Africa were ahead by 138 runs at close on day two with still eight wickets in hand.

"To be honest we don't want to chase too many runs but at the same time, the way the wicket is behaving, I think, anywhere around 350 will be chaseable," said Pujara on the target India would be happy to chase. "First innings top-order obviously didn't click but second innings I think we will put up a better show and if we continue to bat well, we can definitely get more than 350." The right-hander was full of praise for Hardik Pandya whose counter-attacking 93 helped them post 209 all out from being down to 92 for seven.

"He batted really well, he showed a lot of character," he noted. "He hasn't played many Test matches away from home but the kind of innings (he played), we expected it from him if he played in the playing XI. I think he is someone who is very promising, he is batting well and bowling well. It makes a lot of difference to the team because when you have a very good all-rounder, it balances your team combination. I hope he continues with this.
