Last Updated 29 December 2017, 16:40 IST

With rapid urbanisation and increasing influence of 'metro culture', Hubballi is gradually getting rid of its 'glorified village' tag, and the new year bash across the City is showing that in recent years.

Come new year eve, it is party time for many citizens. While some may prefer private parties with close friends and relatives at their house, or farm house or a distant place, DJ music and dance floor are the major attraction for the youth.

This year, performance by DJs is the most common feature of new year eve parties being organised at major hotels in the City on Sunday (December 31), which attract more youth. In addition, dance floor, performance by dance troupes, fun games, unlimited drinks and starters, gala buffets, and theme-bases revelry are also being offered by some party organisers.

Belly dancer Tej and DJ Twin Trippers will perform at The President Hotel. DJs Anjelina, AVD Goa, and Vay will entertain the revellers on Sunday night at Hotel Naveen.

DJs Harsha, Kushal and Burlee will be the attractions at The Hans Hotel, while DJ Zak will perform at Clarks Inn Hotel. New year eve party at Hotel Metropolis is bringing karaoke live Bollywood songs.

At Hotel Denissons, performances by DJ AJ, Cyclone dance troupe, and Voice of India winner Ravi Shukla are expected to attract a huge crowd. Hotels have fixed separate fee for couple and single entry.

Meanwhile, various organisations are also holding cultural programmes like music concert at some places in the City.

1:00 am closure time

Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissionerate has given 1:00 am as the closing time for new year party organisers, while there will be no extension of timings for liquor sale and supply as mentioned in the license.

"All those who organise the new year programme for the public have to get prior permission from the police, and should follow the guidelines. Hotels should install additional CCTV cameras. DJ programmes can be organised, but the sound should not exceed 55 decibles," Police Commissioner M N Nagaraj said.

He has already issued instruction as such to hoteliers. He has also warned that action would be taken against bike riders who do wheeling or sound pollution. Proper bundobust would be arranged, while checking for drunken driving would also be conducted, he added.
