JOIN USNavalgund MLA N H Konaraddi called upon farmers to defeat BJP leaders in the elections if they fail to get the project to divert water from Mahadayi basin to Malaprabha river implemented fast.
Speaking at the Farmers' Day function organised by the JD(S) farmers' wing at the APMC premises here on Saturday, on the occasion of former prime minister Choudhary Charan Singh's birth anniversary, he stated that JD(S) which has assured to waive off all farmers' loans should be brought to power in the State.
State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa had assured to give a sweet news regarding Mahadayi dispute, but he has deceived the people. Both Union and State governments should not play politics in the issue of drinking water. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervenes, Mahadayi dispute can be resolved in just one minute, Mr Konaraddi added.
State JD(S) farmers' wing president Gangadhar Patilkulkarni lamented that the NDA government has failed to fulfill its assurance to implement Dr Swaminathan Commission's recommendations.
