Hyderabad cops' 'inappropriate behaviour' draws ire

Last Updated 23 December 2017, 15:10 IST

The Hyderabad  police may have recently won praise from Ivanka Trump for their conduct, but they have now landed themselves in trouble for inappropriate behaviour  in two different incidents.

In one incident, a police officer was found sitting in front of a complainant with his face rested on her bed, and in another, an officer kicked a Tollywood director for harassing a budding artist.

The photograph of Jawaharnagar inspector Umamaheshwara Rao with his foot on her chair has been circulated widely.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagawath has ordered an inquiry in this regard.

In another incident, a video showing Madhapur Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Gangireddy kicking and slapping a person went viral on social media on Saturday.

The senior police officer had summoned a small-time director,  Yogi, to the Madhapur police station for questioning in a connection with a complaint filed  by a female actor.

The video showed Gangireddy kicking and slapping Yogi, as he was driven to a corner.

The source of the video was not immediately known. While the department has said that it is verifying the veracity of the video, the station staff said  Reddy lost his temper after Yogi started abusing the actor in his presence.
