Last Updated 17 December 2017, 16:58 IST

Karnataka Christian Social Welfare Association president Harry D'Souza alleged that the Backward Class and Minorities Welfare Department was neglecting Christians.

He was addressing a gathering during the District Christian Conference in the city on Sunday. Harry said that Muslims are getting the lion's share from the government but Christians have been neglected and deprived of government facilities. "Officials at the Minorities Welfare Department are reluctant to work for the welfare of Christians and they do not even accept applications from Christians," he alleged.

"The government includes Muslims, who belong to the minority group to Category 2 (B), but has shifted the Christian community to 3 (B) category," he said. Harry also said that Lingayat and Veerashivas are getting good benefits when compared to Christians.

He urged people from the community to stay united and fight for their rights. Harry also said that the association will organise a rally 'Christara Nadige Vidhana Soudada Kadege' soon.

Bishop of Mysore Diocese K A William submitted a memorandum to MLA Vasu. MLA G T Devegowda and others were present.
