State-level inter-school cultural fest for spl kids today

Sahodaya, an outreach programme of St Aloysius College, will be organising 'Chiguru -2017,' a state-level cultural fest for special children to be hosted at the Mother Teresa Peace Park on Sunday between 9 am and 5 pm.

According to a press release, the programme will be inaugurated by St Aloysius institutions Rector Rev Fr Dionysius Vas, while College Principal Rev Fr Praveen Martis will preside.

Special children are expected to participate from eight schools all over Karnataka. A take away cash prize of Rs 15,000 will be given to all the participating schools. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winners. There are eight events namely Group singing, folk dance, pot painting, sketching, embroidery, lemon race, brass band and collage.

The valedictory function and prize distribution along with cultural events will be held in the Mother Teresa Peace Park at 4 pm.

The event is intended to bring together talented special children from the entire state and provide them a forum to display their proficiency in various performing arts.
Sahodaya, an outreach programme for the empowerment of specially abled was started in 2000 to sensitise the staff and students towards the needs and aspirations of the specially abled. This outreach programme has been constantly working with groups and institutions catering to their needs.
