Badagabettu co-op society celebrates centenary

Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society is celebrating the centenary celebrations by taking up yearlong programmes.

Speaking to reporters, Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society general secretary Jayakar Shetty Indrali said that the inaugural ceremony for the yearlong celebrations is organized on December 14 at Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Sabhabhavan. Cooperative minister Ramesh Jarakiholi will inaugurate it. District in-charge minister Pramod Madhawarj will preside over it. All religious heads will be the chief guests. Kaniyur mutt seer Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swami, Mothers of Sorrows Church religious head Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonsa and Anjuman Masjid religious head Moulana Mohammed Inaithullah Rizvi will be the guests on the occasion, he added.

The day programme will conclude with cultural programmes like 'Yaksha Natya Vaibhava - Radha' Vilasa and Yakshagana Vaibhava. He added yearlong celebrations would comprise of programmes for the social cause. The society which was found in the year 1917 with nine branches has always been in the forefront of catering to the needs of customers and also the society. He added that offering drinking water facilities and healthcare amenities would be a priority. Besides, the members of the cooperative society would be covered under health cards. Every year Rs 10 to 15 lakh is spent on the social causes. The plans are also being chalked out for introducing core banking system and also zero bank accounts for students. He maintained that programmes will also be held under Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan and programmes to conserve nature will be initiated, he said.
