Armed miscreants on Saturday hijacked at gunpoint a truck laden with 16 tonnes of pulses on NH 31 in Bihar's Nalanda district, reports PTI.

The incident occurred near Rupaspur village when a truck bearing a West Bengal registration number was on its way to Kolkata from Patna.

The miscreants came in a vehicle and stopped it, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nishit Priya said.

The miscreants beat up the driver of the truck severely, tied his hands and later threw him out near another village before driving away the truck, the SDPO said.

The truck driver managed to inform the police, the SDPO said, adding that searches are on to nab the culprits.
