JOIN USAfter the introduction of reserved parking system and pink autos for women, Mayor R Sampath Raj plans to study about setting up pink toilets for women in the city, similar to Delhi model.
"I cannot say that we are introducing the pink toilets now. There are space constraints in the city. There is a plan and we will be studying about it. We will see what to do in the coming days," said Mayor R Sampath Raj.
When asked why is the corporation planning the pink toilets when it finds it difficult to maintain the existing public toilets, he said: "We are just planning to look at the proposed idea. It is for the betterment of women. The maintenance and other challenges come only after the implementation of the project," said Raj.
Members of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) had visited the city municipal corporation and there was an exchange of ideas about various programmes and initiatives that have been undertaken in both cities. During the visit, Narendra Chawla, chairman, Appointments, Promotions, Disciplinary and Allied Matters Committee, SDMC drew the attention towards the pink toilets in Delhi.
Chawla, who visited the MG Road metro station boulevard and the reserved parking space on the Brigade Road, said he was also planning to set up a boulevard at metro stations in Delhi.

Bommanahalli zone to get a facelift soon.
The Mayor visited Bommanahalli zone on Friday and ordered the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities to develop the ward. The projects for the ward include -
* Rejuvenation of 21 lakes in the ward and provide boating facility.
* Prepare a detailed project report on the construction of high-tech hospitals, markets and the BBMP schools.
* To implement total station survey to measure property tax.
