'BJP, Congress ignoring farmers' woes'

Last Updated 17 November 2017, 17:07 IST

Congress and BJP are two faces of the same coin. Both the parties are involved in mean political games and are not helping the farmers who are in distress, said JD(S) State GeneralSecretary H H Devraj.

Speaking at a programme organised by JD(S) in Arishinaguppe village in the taluk on Thursday, he said that the farmers are facing difficulties due to drought. Hundreds of farmers have committed suicides. But neither the BJP-led central government, nor the Congress-led state government is trying to solve the farmers' problems, he said.

Stating that JD(S) supremo H D Devegowda and state president H DKumaraswamy have been fighting for farmers, Devraj said that if JD(S)comes to power, the farmers' loans will be waived off completely.

JD(S) state spokesperson SL Bhojegowda said that when Naredra Modi became the prime minister, people had lots of expectations. But all of them have turned out to be false. Demonitisation and implementation of GST have made the lives of the common man miserable.

Leaders from other parties joined JD(S) on the occasion. Leader S L Dharmegowda, R Deviprasad, Manjappa, Bhairegowda and Jayaraj Urs were present among others.
