Mehbooba faces 'azadi' slogans

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti faced pro-freedom slogans as she was leaving Khanqah-e-Moula after taking stock of damages caused to the revered shrine in a fire incident in Srinagar's old city on Wednesday.

The chief minister had cancelled all her engagements in the winter capital Jammu and reached Srinagar after hearing news about the fire which broke out on Tuesday night inside the 14th-century shrine of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, damaging the building, an official said.  

Reports said a huge number of people, including women, who had assembled inside the shrine raised the pro-freedom slogans as Mehbooba was leaving. later, She was escorted out by her security, reports added.

It is not for the first time she has faced such situation. On May 16 this year, she had to face embarrassment after scores of women stormed out of a government function at SKICC (Sher-I- Kashmir International Conference Centre) here claiming they were "deceived" to take part in the event.
