Watch: Man stands up to SUV driver for going on the wrong side of the road

Last Updated 07 November 2017, 05:55 IST

It is common knowledge that many Indian people have little to no sense of road discipline. From incessantly changing lanes whenever it is convenient to them, to trying to stuff their vehicles into any tiny crevice of traffic, not caring how it will affect the flow, to outright driving on the wrong side of the road, many, if not most people are guilty of one or the other violation of good road discipline.

Many people do stand up to those who violate road rules many times, but every once in a while, the offender happens to be a known gangster, politician or otherwise muscularly inclined (and sometimes mentally disinclined), which immediately makes them shiver and walk away instead of confronting the offender. However, there are some who stand firm in the face of overwhelming odds, consequences be damned.

One such case is a man on a bike who stood up to a man in an SUV, a man who could probably snap him in half if he felt like it.

In a video/photo from Bhopal, shared by one Nilay Verma on Facebook, a man on a bike is seen stopping in front of a black SUV going the wrong side of the road. Despite clear threats that the driver would run over him, the man does not flinch, and even casually mocks the driver by taking a photo of his car's license plate and casually brushes his mane. Unfortunately, that resulted in quite the beating for the poor fellow, but he remained steadfast, and his actions prompted the Bhopal police to file an FIR against the erring driver across at least 4 sections of the IPC, including 294 (obscene words or acts in public), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 119 ( Public servant concealing design to commit offence which it is his duty to prevent).

The post, including the photo and video, can be seen below.

I can proudly say, this rider is brother of one of my acquaintance..
